Mail vs. Leather

Chain Mail

Hello again!

This topic comes up frequently in my guild. We playfully argue over it for a while, what is so terrible about a class that can wear mail, wearing leather? Or Plate wearing mail. IMO, under certain circumstances, just because a class CAN wear mail, doesn’t mean they HAVE to wear mail.

There are only a few instances that I can think of that a class would have the excuse of wearing a downgraded piece of armor.  Myself for example, Being an enhancement shaman my main stats are STR, AGIL, crit rating, attack power and then some hit rating tossed in there somewhere. *Unfortunately I cannot link items since I am at work, but I’ll work on it later.* Since I shouldn’t be taking much physical damage anyway, what is the big deal of me using leather shoulders like something for a feral druid, or a leather chest piece for a rogue, until I can get a hold of a better epic mail piece more geared towards a shaman, or hunter for that matter?

Like wise with a hunter wearing a piece of rogue gear, Hunters shouldn’t be taking any damage. So if they loose out on armor it shouldn’t be that big of a deal IMO. As just posted over on BRK (you might have to scroll down a bit) sometimes especially at lvl 40 when gear gets switched for some classes, wearing a piece of leather is better than picking up anything mail.

In the past my wife (who is a epic’ed out pally healer) used a pair of cloth gloves that dropped out of Kara, until she got her T4 Pally gloves. Our main tank teased her constantly about how she should never be caught in cloth.

Now don’t get me wrong, some classes don’t have an excuse. IE Rogues: Rogues don’t have anywhere to go down too. No cloth armor (that I know of) has the right stats that a rogue requires. or kitty / bear druids. The same with tanking warriors. Or paladins IMO they should never be caught dead in mail as that completely defeats the purpose of them tanking.

So, coming back around to the original topic, what is your opinion on classes wearing gear that is a downgrade from what they are aloud to wear? IE Leather instead of Mail?

Thanks!

Hello All!

I logged in today about an hour earlier than my normal time, everything was working rather smoothly, I killed some bog lords, got some rep. Then 6:45 pm hit. And everything went down hill from there. I managed to stay logged in long enough to take a SS.

BLue

Seems that I picked a bad time to start a “WoW Blog” seeing as I can barely play hahaha!…. :(

Take it easy yall!

What I Like About Being A Shaman

March 16th, 2008 by mydivinity

Shaman

 Hello again!

As was posted over here on Blog Azeroth they were discussing what other Shaman like about being… well Shaman.

I’m going to jump in and give my 2 cents worth!

1. Big Numbers:

Nothing like hitting a 2,000 – 3,000 Dmg windfury crit. (when added together.) Although my crits aren’t quite that high, I don’t want to lie but I believe they are around 2,000 roughly. Then again I haven’t really been paying attention. _Edit_ I looked last night at my normal windfury DMG. Im hitting, unbuffed, about 2600 with no totems down. on lvl 63-64 mops in Zanga.

Windfury

2. Spiffy Spells:

Even though I am not Elemental, or Restro for that matter, I like the spells, nothing like running into the horde base in AV and getting hit with a 3-4K chain lightning. They look cool and are useful from what I’ve seen. Earthshield is one of the coolest spells IMO. The only reason I can heal a normal 5man with my ghetto healing set is because of earthshield.

3. Very Few On Alliance:

Another reason for me, being on Runetotem, is that there are rather few Shammys compared to other classes. Or so it seems anyway. My guild only has 2 70 Shaman at this point. Where as they have over 20 hunters / rogues. I’m sure eventually this will even out, but for the time being I really enjoy having a spot on the raid almost because I’m the only one of my class.

4. Totems, We Has Them!!!

Totems

Shamans are very flexible, as said in many many blogs before mine. But being able to buff almost any group that I am in, in almost any situation is really nice. Dropping a windfury totem for the 2 DPS warriors that we rotated in, keeping a WoA up for the hunters that are in the group, its all gravy! Just like Vyndreesaid in her post on the same topic, I too like being needed, although I do not think it has much to do with me being a girl… since I’m a dood!

Take care!

Internet Problems

March 16th, 2008 by mydivinity

4 ARMS!!!!!!!!

Hello all!

No luck with the internet back at my trailer. Every time I start to get into the grove of playin’ it decides to boot me. Never fear though, it only seems to do it during peak times here. … Actually I just had a thought (quick run!) they uncap the bandwidth at 0200 on Sunday, which was this morning! So I should be spiffy when I get home this afternoon. (lets hope)

I finally decided last night that I am going to work on my rep with Sporeggar / PvP for those dang shoulders. I realize that Sporeggar has nothing spectacular for a Shaman, but I wouldn’t mind having that Spore Bat. And while my internet is compromised over here, it will keep me busy, if I can stay connected long enough.

Rep

Speaking of Shaman! Lookie what I stumbled upon! V-Boxing.com

And Lightning-Overload   you would think these guys had 4 arms!

Both are great sites. I can honestly say that I was, no kidding, speechless when I read these sites. I know that many of you may have seen this before, or maybe you think that it’s wrong? But this is the first that I have heard of this multi-boxing shenanigans, and 5 (count em’ FIVE) characters at the same time! This is absolutely crazy thinking to me. Then I got a thought, maybe I can dual-box? I mean I have several computers sitting around, Ill have to look into it. I think it would be fun to start another character – or 2.

Well in closing here is a picture of me.

Me!

Take it easy

Ghostface….er….Shaman?

Ghostface

Hello again!

I was able to log on last night for a  few minutes. … First a little bit of  back story, the internet over here in Iraq is closely monitored for bandwidth and traffic. They don’t block any sites, however, they cap your speed during peek hours at 1 gig. At 2 gigs they cap your speed during all hours and at 3 gigs they just shut you off completely. This process resets every Sunday at 2am local time.

Well, I was having problems downloading the patches from WoW through the downloader, so I took off to the mirror sites. .. a few hours, and several sodas later, I have the patches, but none of them would open. It kept telling me I didn’t have enough hard drive space lol.!

Long story short, I had to re-download all the patches, got it running, but that pretty much put me over the 2 gig cap, so my connection is capped as of right now, ’till Sunday.

With that being said, I logged in to find this

Pretty cool huh? I think he looks bad ass in that picture! I really REALLY need to get rid of those leather shoulders. And I know just how to do it…..

Its  AV weekend! I currently have 9,600 something honor, and the PvP shoulders are only 12,000 honor. Although you cannot tell from my character, (mostly because I completely forgot to put my armory profile up last night from my trailer) but I really don’t like using PvP gear in PVE, which is what I am going for. But, PvP epics are better than nothing, and they will work until I can get something to drop out of Kara to replace them, which I fully intend to do.

Anyway, I am currently working on killing the Bog Lords in the outlands, and herbing their boddies,  for money and rep. With my connection being so terrible, its better to stay from others lol!

I will remember tonight to get my armory profile link and post it up here (already sent myself an email to remind me), so you can make fun of me and my leather armor.  But hey, just beucase I CAN wear mail, doesnt mean I HAVE to!

 Take it easy all,

 -Steve

Greetings

Greetings!

So there I was, sitting at work. Reading the select few blogs that “The Man” didn’t have locked down. When out of nowhere I decided that I, one who cannot spell to save his life, would try my hand at this whole blogging fiasco. I quickly procured an obscure blogging website, so as not to get myself blocked by “The Man” and started rambling away.

Who am I?  My name is Steven, I’m 24 years old and am in the USAF. Currently hanging out in Iraq, working in the Al Faw Palace. Life in Iraq is interesting to say the least, walking well over a mile to get something to eat, wearing goggles for the sand., having the wind blow hard enough to knock down several porta potties. Life is grand over here, internet costing upward of 100 bucks a month for a consistent 3000ms red lag bar, but at least its constant. I live in  Colorado Springs in the states, I am married with a baby girl. Luckily my wife plays WoW as well she is a lvl 70 holy pally. I listen to metal, Black Label Society being my favorite, but I also listen to allot of Lamb of God, Slayer, Heaven Shall Burn, lots of other bands.

Speaking of WoW, I play on the server Runetotem which is a PvE server (totally different topic all together).  I have a lvl 70 rouge, who is retired.  I’m currently playing an Enhancement shaman named MyDivinity, not overly well geared, blues and epics.  I use 2 slow 1 handed weps, I know that some shaman prefer a fast off hand, and I am not against it, but personally I like slow/slow.  I am not against wearing leather, if it is an upgrade to the mail I have on IMO I’m not a tank, I don’t need armor.  I flash the DMG meters to my battle buddies (read: Raid buddies) and talk mild trash. We urge each other on that way. hmm I suppose that’s about it about me, I am VERY long winded, which is shortened due to me re-reading what I have just typed, deleting, re-wording, and other such festivities. My guild  has cleared Kara, but we are still looking to get more members geared, including myself,  for 25man content.

Another reason for starting this blog is that there are not enough Enhancement shaman blogs around. (not that I think I will do an overly good job at blogging, if 10 people come here on a consistent basis I will consider it a  success) I don’t plan on doing much - if any - theory crafting, I may relate something from another blog now and then. Mostly my plan for this site is to provide a somewhat entertaining place for the normal Enhancement shaman to come, look at my crazy doings inside the World of Warcraft, kill some time at work, and maybe keep myself entertained at work as well.  After that we will see where the blog is heading, hopefully my writing skill will improve and I can better express myself on paper… or the internet whichever.

untill next time- take care,  Steve
